Unhealthy lifestyle habits and excess weight are known risk factors in 30-50% of new cancer cases, according to the World Cancer Research Fund. Research shows that adopting healthy habits, such as a high quality, plant-predominant diet with minimal processed foods, regular exercise, reducing physical inactivity, improving sleep quality, reducing stress, minimizing substances such as alcohol and tobacco products, having positive social connections, and maintaining a healthy weight can lower cancer risk and recurrence and improve overall quality of life. Our Lifestyle Medicine providers work closely with you to understand your unique challenges and goals and create a personalized plan to help you reach those goals.
The Program
Our Lifestyle Medicine approach for cancer patients begins with a comprehensive 60-minute assessment to understand your eating habits, exercise routine, stress levels, sleep patterns, smoking and substance use history, and overall mental health.
Based on this initial assessment, we will work together to design a personalized plan that targets your unique needs, helping you take meaningful steps toward improved health. The emphasis is not just on “what” changes to make, but also “how” to implement them in a sustainable way. We utilize web-based tools, patient education resources, and collaborative goal setting to identify actionable strategies that can lead to impactful results.
We make referrals to our various team members based on the unique needs of each patient. Our team includes registered dietitians, exercise program specialists, sleep experts, behavioral health professionals, and tobacco cessation counselors.
