Hartford HealthCare Changes Visitor Guidelines Due to Increased Cases of COVID-19

Beginning Monday, January 3, 2022, all Hartford HealthCare hospitals will change their guidelines for visitors. Each patient may have one visitor per day during normal visiting hours. Exceptions will be made for patients with disabilities, in Labor and Delivery areas and in certain other circumstances, such as compassionate visitation at end-of-life.
“We know that it is beneficial for patients to have visitors when they are hospitalized, and we are making this change to ensure safety at this time of high prevalence of the COVID-19 virus,” said Dr. Ajay Kumar, Hartford HealthCare’s Chief Clinical Officer. “The safety of our patients, colleagues and communities must always be our first objective.”
Visitors will need to wear facemasks at all times when in the hospital, and people visiting patients who are hospitalized with the COVID virus will be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, which will be provided.
People who are sick or experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19 are strongly urged not to visit at the hospital.
Hartford HealthCare’s hospitals are:
- Backus Hospital in Norwich
- Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington
- Hartford Hospital
- The Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain and at the Bradley Campus in Southington
- MidState Medical Center in Meriden
- Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport
- Windham Hospital
Visitation at Hartford HealthCare’s Behavioral Health facilities is limited to clinically relevant visits that support care planning and care coordination.
