National Media Eager to Share Hartford HealthCare Advances

Hartford HealthCare is getting noticed — not only throughout Connecticut, but in leading national healthcare media outlets.

Modern Healthcare, the top general-interest media outlet covering the industry, cited Hartford HealthCare CEO Jeffrey Flaks’s vision for providing healthcare in retail centers and in consumers’ homes, calling Hartford HealthCare a model for the nation. And, just this week, Becker’s Healthcare gave the health system and its leaders a special “shout-out” for achieving clinical excellence through transformational programs and services.

In a Becker’s podcast, Scott Becker — founder, publisher and chief content officer of Becker’s Healthcare — cited Hartford HealthCare’s successful transformation through the years. Hartford HealthCare is “leading something that is going very right in terms of people and health care delivery,” Becker said. The system has achieved national recognition for being among the nation’s #1 performers for cardiac surgery, is ranked #1 in the U.S. for mitral valve surgery, and has the best one-year kidney transplant survival rate in the entire county.

Additionally, Hartford HealthCare is the only health system in New England, New Jersey and New York to earn straight “A” grades for safety from the Leapfrog Group, an independent safety watchdog agency. And HHC is the only health system in New England to meet the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ high standards for significantly reducing and preventing hospital-acquired infections.
