Benjamin J. Markus, ThD, is a transformative educational leader with over 20 years of experience in special education and school leadership. He has led programs serving 1,100+ students, turning noncompliant systems into models of excellence in just one year through strategic staffing, training, and culture change.
Dr. Markus holds a Doctorate in Theology (Evangel University), a Master of Divinity (Liberty University), a Master of Science in Childhood and Special Education (Mercy College), a Master of Public Administration (Syracuse University), and a Certificate in School Management and Leadership (Harvard University), along with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (Vassar College) and advanced certifications in school and district leadership.
He has held key roles across schools throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties and in every borough with the New York City Department of Education, driving measurable gains in graduation rates, attendance, and student achievement while leading high-performing teams. As a Major and Chaplain in the United States Army National Guard, Dr. Markus combines educational expertise with mission-driven leadership, service, and a commitment to inclusive student outcomes.
